Anyone have experience with Dr. Earth 2-4-2

The product is good for seedlings or rootings, since the high phosphate ratio will stimulate root growth. In terms of net cost of nutrients it is ridiculously overpriced. Compare to the Gro-Power liquid 4-8-4, or a water-soluble 10-20-10 with micros + a 1/4 teaspoon of humic acid.

Beneficial symbiotics are the main feature of the Dr. Earth products. Once you have inoculated (used the product in) your soil, there is no need to add more microbes or mycorrhizae again for 7 to 10 years -- if ever depending on your gardening practices. Here are some particulars:
If you are planting or transplanting into a pot with potting soil, a tablespoon of a Dr. Earth product would be sufficient for the lifetime of the plant in the pot provided you have an inch or so of fine grain mulch on the surface.
If you are planting in the ground with loamy soil and using mulch on the surface, a one time application will be sufficient.
If you are planting in the ground with a clayish soil and using mulch on the surface, once every 7 to 10 years should be sufficient.
If you are planting in the ground with a clayish soil and not using a mulch cover, then you are wasting your money because most of the beneficials will not survive in this environment.
Important: if you apply a strong fungicide to the plant or soil to kill off some nasty disease, then you have probably killed off the beneficial organisms in the soil as well. Simply re-inoculate with a tablespoonful for plants in a pot, or a few tablespoons for each plant in the ground.
