This D. Orinoco was cut down to fit into a bedroom to overwinter with lights, heater and humidifier last fall. It was too warm and humid and rot set in. When we put it in the ground we had to cut it down further and further and I'm assuming that I might have had nanas had it not been chopped? That sure isn't a leaf growing out the top. I'm so bummed that I might have had one of those flukes happen and possibly gotten fruit early enough in summer and had enough time. I'll let it run it's course and see if I can get some pups off of it. I cut lots of pups off of it last fall and put in pots and they are planted outside now and doing great. There is one new one but it looks like a water sucker.

Am I right that this is a goner? Please excuse the weeds.

You definitely cut off most of the bunch and will not get any fruit from it, but it will still be good for pups as you thought, so just leave it in the ground.

Looks like you cut it just at the base of the meristem. What a pity. Looks like you have pups showing already, though. Just need to wait till next year.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know there'll be other early surprise blooms some year like what happened for Taylor last year! I'm not giving up hope!

Feel for you Deb, hope I get to that point someday!
