Hello all!
I FINALLY live in a place where bananas do quite well, in northern baja california. I'm looking for a nursery or place to get tropical plants and banana plants. I've not had luck looking online.
I need to find a place here in Tijuana/Rosarito because I can't get anything up north and I'm not quite ready to try to smuggle banana corms under the car seats. Anyone have any leads? Thanks so much!!!!

I wouldn't have a problem with that if I were you ;) Check Ebay Mexico here
MercadoLibre Mxico - Plantas - Jardn y Exterior - Donde comprar y vender de todo. (http://listado.mercadolibre.com.mx/exterior-plantas/)
Also see if you know someone that would part with pups.
EDIT: still looking

I clicked on the link to your map location and it took me into the Atlantic. ???
Looking near Tiajuana, I see we have a couple of members here that haven't been active, but you might try sending them a PM or e-mail. The might have pups available or at least know of other sources. Good luck!

Thanks all for your help. I'm still having a hard time finding nanners. I mean people have them planted all over in fact they grow fine in ditches here, but no one has them. I even went to Home Depot and there were no bananas and Super Walmart has no garden section here in Mexico.
Harvey, I was able to get a hold of Ramon, the member living here in Tijuana, thank you very much for that. He also told me that it's hard to find banana varieties here. I wonder if he gets them from the other side..?
Anyway, thanks again for trying to help me on this. I will post further when I have some luck :).

Shouldn't be that hard to bring corms into Mexico. I haven't been for years but as I remember they don't search any inbound traffic. Have things changed?

Momoease,
You're right on the San Ysidro crossing they don't search inbound vehicles unless they decide they want to lol. 99.9999999% of people cross with a green light..there's always the possibility though.
Do you know of any nurseries that have banana corms available in San Diego area?

Even then I doubt they would do more than take it from you.

A friend of mine in Puerto Vallarta started his web site recently. He's been collecting a wide variety of plants for many years and has many interesting things, in case you're interested. I can't remember now, but it seems I or somebody else had told him about pitangadiego, etc. Some communication was via PM and I don't have a copy of those now.

Go to farmer's market. Ask the person selling the bananas you want to bring some pups for you next week, and that you will pay for them.
