I am new this website and would appreciate any advice I can get. About 3 years ago I purchased my first hardy banana and I fell in love! This year I am experimenting with a couple of different varieties - siam ruby, a red banana and I recently purchased a red abyssian (sp). We have had so much rain in the St. Louis area that I am really worried about how they are all doing. I realized it's only the middle of June, but I somehow remember my musa's being taller than they are now. This spring I started to use Milorgranite as a fertilizer. I am an optimistic person, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Are there any other Missouri gardners out there?

If you have only started fertilizing this year, the soil is most likely depleted. That would cause the growth to be less this year than previous years. Bananas are very heavy feeders. I am in the St. Louis area, if you have any pups you would be interested in trading feel free to PM me. I have several varieties I could trade.

Welcome to the org. It has been raining here for over a week with another rain filled week in the forecast. I think this year across the couuntry has been a bit cooler than normal. Much cooler than last year.I'm hoping it warms up soon and our plants will pick up. Good luck.

Welcome to the org! I lived in St. Louis from 1998-2003 and loved it there. In fact, that's where my banana addiction began. Glad to have you here!
