View Full Version : extra large leaves?
All of a sudden my Saba is putting out new leaves that are about double the size of the previous ones. (4' x 2') The leaves are so big that they are just bending over being to big to suppport themselves. I cut the first one off but another has appeared. curious to see what the current new cigar wil look like this week. Any ideas on this? too much fertilizer maybe?

is it a pup or a grown plant. if it where mine would not cut any leaves.
survivng pup from last years momma that did not make it. about 6ft tall. maybe clarify that they are bending/breaking right at the stem, impeding the emergence of the future leaves. just curious why the elaves have doubled in size?

When such a situation occurs, the plant has come into a period of good growing conditions.
This is very noticeable in plants which are potted; if it does not have enough space for new root growth or water, the leaves get small. Once the situation is rectified, you can see that the new leaves really get big especially when there's fert fed.

My sabas have been doing the same thing sometimes lately. The leaves are about 8 feet x 3 feet. I was wondering if they need more potasium for stronger stems.
thanks Tog, will watch and see how big and if the stem can support the new growth.
If I remember I will snap a pic tonight. was looking at it last night; the difference between the leave size is pretty amazing.
