help, I teach a high school agriculture class in south eastern Michigan my students want to get their bananas to bloom, we have teeny tiny, nam wah, cavendish (dwarf and super dwarf), basjoo, and ruby siam, some are over a year old. My greenhouse is fully automatic, and I have additional lighting. How much light do I need to have blooms by April? What fert rate should I use?

Welcome to the board Farmgirl98! Nice to hear you are involved with educational hoticulture with the young 'uns.
Coming to getting 'naners to bloom, each cultivar or species seem to have its own naturally indexed growth cycle. Basically, in order to do it, we have to literally grow them to death! This entails, a good active growing period (best if not interrupted by the cold) and regular fert feeding.
The Kluay Nam Wah, DC and SDC usually take a period of approx 18 months of non stop growth to bear fruits in the tropics. So in your area where you have the cold months setting in as an interruption, you can figure out the growth to fruiting period for them with what I have mentioned as a comparison and thus, it will take much longer. All the best!:02:
