The birds. I have a bird that has built a nest under my Dwarf Orinoco. I hope the leaf lasts as long as it takes to hatch the baby birds. Some how the bird have sewn the nest to the leave. Very cool!

My chickens love the bananas and mulch around them. They love cleaning up the bugs!

Talking about whatever loves 'naners in my nursery....them wildboars! I can't figure it if they take a bite at the p-stem of a med size plant, it dies after that! Probably some enzyme that kills the plant. The corm is not damaged and when it gets planted back, it dies in a while.

The other thing about bird's nests..... though I am not superstitious, whenever one pops up anywhere at my nursery or my house, my luck goes to hell!!! :waving: So the moment they are spotted, I will remove them before the bird gets to lay its eggs, just to be safe! :ha:

Everybody in the family has pretty much called me nuts at one time or another because of my banana growing but I think they're catching on. Dad is now growing a Dwarf Brazilian in front of his house and just last week my son Michael (age 11) looked at a banana plant last week and asked me if I thought the next leaf would be a flag leaf so I think they're finding the love for them also! :D

everyone sits under my banana tree in the driveway. My hubby, me, neighbors, customers. It's good shade!
It might turn me into an alcoholic during the summer months though. My most favorite breaktime at 7 when we close is to crank Jimmy Buffet banana wind cd and grab a beer with my hubby.

I, too, have found many people parked under my streetside bananas enjoying the shade.

My wife (who got me started with all this).

My cousin. I just gave him a Praying Hands pup this morning. I just left it on his doorstep on my way to work. I have gifted him several pups of only my hardiest varieties, as he won't protect them like I would. He doesn't have the time. He hasn't lost any yet, so it must be working...

My cat, Willow (in my avatar).

P.s. Cute kids!

I am brand new banana growing and I am only in the process of germinationg some seeds right now, to grow my first plant, but I just had to stop in and say wow!

Magilla Gorilla, those pics are just awesome! Thanks for sharing. I have a feeling that when I put my first plant outside this season, a whole lot of people are going to just love it. Around here, these are not seen everyday, so they are really unique and cool looking.

I'll stop in later and let you guys know how mine works out, and who loves it - besides me.

: )

Patty,
Drink heavily before bed tonight. You won't have nightmares just a hang over. The girls look cute but are high maintenance. Last year when we landed in Hawaii and went to pick up the rental car the 4-year old said "Hey, thats not a Mercedes". Santa Barbara has spoiled them. I take that back, I have spoiled them. Good luck!

You only get to spoil them once. Might as well enjoy.
