I purchased this banana from a local nursery for $20. It was labeled only "Musa" and the cashier only new that it was an ornamental banana. It had decent size pup and now has a total of 5. It has blue/green leaves... any ideas?

It appears to be a Musella lasiocarpa - Chinese Golden Lotus banana.

Yes, I agree with Scot. That's M. Lasiocarpa. Very cold hardy. Beautiful flowers.

I concur with Scot and Chong, it's a Musella lasiocarpa, the Chinese Golden Lotus 'naner. Great plant; mine flowered for a year before it gave up the ghost. Just enjoy it!:ha:

Thanks all! They still had 4 or 5 about the same size sitting lonely in the back :waving:

I'm continually surprised by the different bananas I find at random nurseries in my area. I was at another local nursery this weekend and they had two 5-6 foot AE AE bananas... I almost didn't notice what they were as the white in the leaves was not particularly striking, but they did looks really healthy with two big leaves each. At $149 each I had a devil on each shoulder whispering in my ear, but in the end I settled for a nice big Rajapuri for $32:nanadrink:
