Hi,
I found some days ago old seeds from Musa yunnanensis and Musa rubinea in my refrigerator, stored since years there at 4°C. Will they still germinate? How long one storage in the refrigerator can keep the seeds fertile?
If yes, then I will send them to Helton to Brazil to germinate them for me for my yard in Lucianópolis.
Thanks in the advance!:waving:
Best thanks

I couldn't sow the seed because of the place problems, so that I stored them in my refrigerator to sow it later and to keep the germination ablity. Now I want to send them to my friend to Brazil to germinate them for me, because I'm currently only in the vacations in Brazil, my homekeeper keeps my yard.
Best wishes

I send the seeds only to Brazil to my friend Helton, he provides my banana project to build a banana collection in Brazil in Lucianópolis where I have a yard with a chanson, I bought the house and the yard there in Brazil last year, look Jardim de Banana Lucianópolis (http://www.jardimdebanana.de.vu) (unfortunately currently only in German, but one update will come soon). He has already grown 5 species from seed and will bring them in September to Lucianópolis. There is a import prohibition for banana plants to Brazil since May 17th, 2005. If I send you some seeds and you grow plants and send them to Brazil, then the plants will not survive by one too long way (I lost one plant shipment from one friend from Vienna/Austria, the pups arrived dead in Brazil because of the too long way and heat) or the Brazilian customs put the plants in impoundment, this is a risk.
Best wishes
