This the 40+ yr old mat that came with our house. Following everyone's advice they look great and gave us a bloom, then 3 hands of fruit grew and 2 have fallen off leaving one hand. Any one know what is happening?

I want to learn how to grow fruit.

They are (?) super hardy "nanners" that shield the house from our blazing S sun.

By taking a closer look at the flower in your gallery photos, these look like plantains. Just my 2 cents.

I'll take a shot of the remaining fruit and see what you think.

Since I want to grow fruit these may just be for shade!

Shoot, now I really have to start collecting..............

The remaining hand has grn fruit about 5" long. A neighbor said that awhile back they bore fruit that was small, yellow and didn't taste good.

I would seperate one out, plant it in another protected location and keep it to a mother and 2 pups - cull out everything else - and see how well the fruit produces then. Your mat may be too large to get large tasty fruit - too much energy going to the pups...

Be well,
Mike
