do you normaly consider yourself to be a friendly person? are you the kind of person who is quick to make friends? you dont believe you are a bit anti social?

despite your easy going open minded attitude, have you felt like you have been trespassed against,or snooped on by a neighbor?

what have you done about it? have you decided to plant a privacy screen between the two of you? what did you decide to plant? what was the outcome? are you satisfied?

i hope no one here has been labeled as a weird, spooky, and sociopathic neighbor. how did you take it? :ha::ha:

Ooooh, don't get me started! My neighbor moved next door & was stalking me - in front, in back, he followed & watched me whenever he could. I know he came in my yard when I went to work just to snoop & look in my windows!! I put on a gate w/ lock. He called building inspector to try to get gate down.
I called police & asked what to do & they said plant bushes or anything to block his view. Bushes didn't work so I put up a 6ft stockade fence. He called B inspecters to get it down. It didn't work - b inspect. got sick of him. He tried everything for revenge.
Who's the poet that said "Good fences, good neighbors" LOL
I won't go on any more or it'll take a month. And, I am NOT antisocial! All my other neighbors like me.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! You may have seen some of the pics of my small backyard. I have a little 8' around self filling pool I go in after work on my deck and every time I go in on a hot day after work the old lady next door happens to do laps around their second story deck. I go out to do yardwork ....within one minute of my getting home and going out invariably I hear the sound of their screen door slamming and the old man is up my.........
I hate New Jersey!!!! Yard is too small and shady for a stand of bamboo. The sunny spots are filled with bananas and vegetables and aren't the problem spots anyway.......Some day I'll get out.

bob, you may have luck with tiger grass, it looks like bamboo. is supposed to clump not run. its supposed to be for shaded areas. i have sunny areas to cover so it may not work well for me. i may try clumping bamboo in the future.:bananas_b

I like tall trellises covered in thorny vines. Where I was living in the South had no close neighbours, but people from the valley used to come up unnanounced to see if they could buy bananas from us. Often at ungodly early hours of the morning. I put up a tall fence of trellis and covered it in Bougainvillea and rambling Roses, to prevent prying eyes.

Hahaha... You guys aren't alone with the ****ty neighbor stuff. I have a p#@#k of an old dork on my left. When I first moved in, I said hello and he just gave me a bad face. Since then he or it has been giving me a bad face. My neighbor on the left is a very nice old lady and I have given her plants and we exchange notes often. Being in an intermediate lot, I can't do anything with the fence so I act looney whenever that dork is around. I water my plants at weird hours of the morning like 4am. I give it the death stare if it looks in my direction. So after 5 years here, I have the situation under control. My privacy screen being unable to build or grow one has been my silent threat as a looney.....:ha:

Austin, those curved thorns are Flying Dragon P. trifoliate...wicked stuff!! The problems here are mostly having privacy from being stared at though.
Bob, my yard is similar to yours. I wouldn't be as intimidated by them as my neighbor so I would prolly say something like..."why are you staring at me?"
I ignored my neighbor so he kept staring till one day I turned to him & politely said "I can't work when you're staring at me. I can't work when ANYONE is staring at me" and he started laughing but he turned away for awhile- for that day. He thinks he's invisible - like I didn't notice? Let them know you are aware of them staring & you don't like it. Maybe plant something to block their view?
Tog, if you were here, this guy would never have bothered me LOL. Any 'male' presence woulda worked, crazy one - even better.
When he moved here I just broke up w/ a guy & lived alone. On my days off I was siding my house & he positioned himself to stare where ever I was. Always trying to start up conversation - demanding attention. I was polite but then he did not like my ignoring him so he told his daughters (young teens, preteens & one about 9) to watch out for me & stay away cuz I'm a lesbian WHICH I AM NOT. They were afraid of & looked at me like I was from Mars.
21/2 yrs ago I took few pics of a sick plant in sunroom - it just got dark...I used my flash. Loading them in puter 1/2 hr later cops rang my doorbell. Asked if he could come in I said "sure, what's up?" He had his hand on his cuffs ready to slap em on me. Said neighbor called to say I'm IN HIS YARD TAKING PICS and he has a restraining order on me! (This tells me he was watching me inside from his yard) I saw a paddy wagon & 2 squad cars in front ready to take me. I started crying & told him about the sick plant & he could look at pics I just took. There was NO restraining order on me & I was NEVER in his yard in 15 years!!! The cop patted me on back & said don't let this guy get to you & suggested I move. They talked to him & left.
Gotta stop now - I'm having a panic attack. GRRRRRRR

C'mon Jarred, sounds like you have a good story!
My neighbor is on SSI & has nothing else to do but be obsessed w/ what I do. Someone said he had a brain injury yrs ago. He is CRAZY!! His wife is a cross between Tiny Tim & Miss Piggy & hardly ever comes out of house. She heard me tell a cop that her husband stares at me, so she cut her long stringy hair to my length & dyed it blonde (like mine). She's down 2 quarts-- & only holds 3.
Why do they have to live next to me???? They are 'raping' our tax $$ & both are physically capable of working.

Patty , for some reason I feel a lot better now after hearing what you've gone through. Tell him you have a crazy friend in Jersey who don't like their Wisconsin pals disturbed. Most of the country thinks we're all mobsters here anyway so might as well go with it!:ha:
