i was just going over a few old threads about the burmese blue has any one found out any more info on this type or located a source to get one from i read that it has a pstem height of 30+ feet, the one i had last year was like a large ornamental and i was told max hieght was 9-11 feet and fruit was very seeded i never got mine to fruit i tryed over wintering it in the basement and it rotted away anyone know the cold hardyness of it and some correct info about this type? did i even have a real burmese blue or something else? and where can i find another one?

Hey J, I got my Burmese Blue last fall at banana-tree.com. They have the standard write up on it there with the same pic of blue bananas you always see. The main corm never grew but it's only pup finally did and got about a foot or so tall over the winter. It seems to be suffering in the cool spring here but still slowly putting out new growth. The best thing I noticed was that it had developed purplish petioles that are attractive looking( or maybe it's like a human turning blue in the cold). I'll try and get a pic this weekend. I'd like more info on it too. webebananas has a bit on them as well.
