I bought two this spring. They are doing okay. One has a new leaf coming. I will soon put both of them out. I still have nights 60*F. Which is okay but in zone 6 there can still be a cooler night. I am just making sure it does not happen when I put them out. I will soon. I plan to put in semi shady to get them use to the sun again.

Good plan but.... good luck to you growing coconut.
It is one plant that I can not grow here in my backyard although I tried it a few times.

Coconuts love full sun and react positively to strong sun, the longer you keep it in shade the slower will be its growth. They like sandy well drain soil, but need a good water supply. Good growing Vickie!! :2239:

Thanks. These will be kep in pots. In 1974 I bought two sprouted coconuts in Key West. I brought them home and they lived in pots until 1979. The only reason I lost them is because of a nasty divorce. It was my fault that I did not take care of them. I tried to grow one in 2007. But lost it that winter because I had it in a basement that was too cool. I have a bunch of plants down there over the winter with many lights. But I will not try that again.
