Just joined the forum. Looking forward to communicating with fellow enthusiast! Most people here are the "You grow what? Bananas?" types!
Local nurseries are begining to actually have a larger selection of varieties to choose from. Found velutina & 'ice cream' locally. Has anyone brought these types through the winter outside? I'm in zone 8.

I overwinter both outside with no protection save for a little mulch. Taylor pointed out, however, that my zone 8 is not the same as zone 8 in Va.

Welcome to the organization Clockdaddy.
There are many here that grow Ice Creams and many other banana types in the cold zones. Check out the cold hardy bananas thread. There are many helpful pictures and comments about overwintering in ground, and removal and attic or garage overwintering.
I grow Ice Creams because they are resistant to Black Sigatoka, a banana disease in Florida.
Good growing!!! :2239:

Howdy to another from the MidAtlantic area. Look over the Cold Hardy sections and you should find all the info you need, Where in VA are you?
