I have 4 Ice Creams with 5ft p-stems. However one is sick!
In February, it put out a leaf and then we got a lot of rain and around late march put out a sick leaf. However soon after it was out in early April, we had terrible wind and snapped off the sick leaf completely and now it's quiet ever since...... We've had 90s and 100s in April, and now it's May with hot weather. Yet no sign of growth coming. It does appear to be green though and has pushed 3 pups in the last week.
What should I do? My other IC have 6-7 healthy leafs out.

Cut back the p-stem a little at a time and see what's happening at the growing point. Might have rot at growing point like raggedy has on their Ensete.

Well, after waiting another couple weeks, still no sign of growth. So today, I cut it back 4 inches and it is green as can be all the way to the middle. We just simply don't get cold enough for ICs to have rot issues here. They were even growing in December/January. These plants are tough! But it has decided to just stop.. :( Hopefully cutting off its green leaves & p-stem will stimulate it.

hmmmm.. interesting you say that. The pups are growing at light speed.. really crazy to see the growth every 24 hrs. Perhaps it has decided to put the energy into pups instead

Sometimes a transplanted plant will jst not thrive, but will pup just fine. It just delays the enjoyment of the first fruit by a little. As long as there are pups, there will be a tomorrow.

It seems to me like when they decide to lose that main pseudostem, they pull everything back out of it for energy. Those pups grow twice as fast as regular ones. it's my theory that they are taking the nutrients out of that big stalk, kind of like using it as fuel to grow. Like when you pig out all winter and get chubby and then burn it off in the summer!

Yeah, and the growth rate is about 8 inches week on the P-STEM. If for whatever reason, it thinks that is the right thing to do, that is fine with me, but i'm just upset about losing a flower. Oh well (i'll have 2-3 other ICs flowering this year anyway :)
