I'm still sitting for hours reading old threads to learn all I can, still somewhat confused about water pups and sword pups.

What is the difference?

My Basjoo is sprouting something. Can someone tell me what is growing in my pot?

basically sword suckers have narrow leaves untill the plant grows a little height.. water suckers have broad leaves from and early stage.

your plant looks so young..it seems to have suckers but from this stage its kinda hard make out much. wanna say swords.

also it wouldnt hurt at all to cover your roots with a little soil, but dont bury the p stem.the suckers can take a little soil just dont dump it on top of them (they could break). its showing a few inches of cleavage,it looks a little naked to me.

Looks like a sword pup to me. Both of them do.

I concur, very sword-like I'd say. And I second the motion for less exposure, its unbecoming of such a young nanner.

So how much soil should be added?? I'm not sure what you mean by
"don't cover the p-stem" are you talking about the pups or the main plant?

I think I can understand the different appearance of the pups. But is there any other difference in the two? like fruiting or blooming?

I forgot the mot important question I had. Should I fertilize now that it has pups?

p-stem = psuedostem.( its the stalk). i was saying your roots are showing..cover your roots, but not your p stem. cover roots till you get to the fat bulb-like part of the p-stem stop before it turns slender again. if you go further than that, you went too far.

you can fertilize, and water a banana once you know its actively growing.

Thanks a bunch for your advise. We will cover them as soon as it stops pouring rain.

The pups on my Ca.Gold look like water sprouts should I cut them off.

it looked like it had been out in the rain.the dirt had eroded soil from the roots...the plant is more vunerable to being toppled.
