I bought a gallon sized banana labeled "Bordelon" at Home Depot -$7 But......it looks exactly like every Zebrina I have seen (and killed over the winter). Is there any identification clues as to if it is truly "Bordelon"? All the pictures of "Bordelon" I've seen have splashes of burgundy color, but usually not as bright as Zebrina's

banana-tree.com says the Bordelon grows to 14' and the Zebrina grows to 5'

I have an ~5' Zebrina that has slowed its vertical growth extremely; it has focused growth to the pup, which is now about as tall. And now a new pup is emerging to repeat the process.
So, give it some time to see how tall it gets - thats one way.

A local nursery I just discovered (luckily 2 minutes from my house, how did I not discover this before?!!!) has both Zebrina and Bordelon growing outside. Both types of plants are currently at about 5-6 feet tall, but the Bordelon has slightly longer, much narrower leaves, with a lot less maroon colour on the top side. The Bordelon's are (to me) clearly more slender than the Zebrina leaves in MediaHound's picture.
The amount of red on the upper side of the Bordelom seems comparable to a young Cavendish, but a little more pronounced... a Zebrina has far more.
I was lucky enough to pick up 3 very healthy Bordelon pups (3-6") together in one pot, for 8 only bucks, which I plan to grow indoors this winter.
Hope this helps your identification!

Here are some pictures of my Bordelon. It looks quite different from any Zebrina that I've seen, mainly in that it has a tall and thin appearance. The leaves are also skinny and long, with the top being mostly green, and maroon on the undersides.
