Congrats AA! As Bob said, $3 well spent, I do agree totally as even in a place like M'sia, the price of ornamental species musa is $15 and up! Great haul, and do keep us posted of its progress.

Wow! Definitely money well spent! Enjoy your nanner! Be sure to plant it outdoors this summer to give it the full growth potential! And it should be able to survive in your climate outdoors year-round! Good luck with it!

That's a great deal on any banana, congragulations on your find, I have had good luck with the plants I get from Lowes. I bought a couple of Basjoos from them last year and this season they are about 4 ft tall and puping like crazy. I think I read somewhere that they call get almost 18 ft tall.

That is so rewarding! Congratulations! I got a mahoi last month that was frozen back to the ground for one dollar and it has since put out about 30 pups in a spiral pattern around the corm. Isn't it cool to get a basjoo for nothing?

Nice deal
I'm going to have to keep an eye on Lowes too
One year I bougt a bunch of perennials that were "dead"
They were all marked down to about .10
Cashier was a little puzzled as to why I bougt them

Haha! you guys must be my soulmates, as I've done that kind of thing many times in the UK. People can't see beyond a little surface damage and want everything perfect - they don't know that plants are soooo tough! Mooching past the discount area means you can pick up some real bargains. Must be my Scottish ancestry that makes me love a bargain so.

do you guys think he will not flop over in the winter or will it stay standing?

That is awesome. I love great deals like that. Last fall right before winter her in S.C. I got two musa bordelons from a local greenhouse for 5 bucks each. They didn't know anything other than it was a banana.

My basjoos tend to bend over halfway but I don't cover them or insulate them, I also cut their leaves off after frost. If the y do flop just make sure to cut it off where it bent. I treat it like the rest of my perennials for three years now.
