I finally had my first banana seed germinate. It is a Musa sikkimnisa and I need some advise in getting this thing to grow without losing it. I presently have it potted in a 4" pot. I set it in a northeast window where it gets just a bit of direct sun in the morning. It has one leaf which is curled under towards the stem. It has not straightened out as of yet. But, I notice dthe very tip of the leaf is getting brown. I am trying to walk this fidne line dof not over watering and not under watering. Can some kone walk me through this growth stage? Sure would appreciate any advise.

Paul, your sdlg needs more humidity and this doesn't mean more water. Make sure the soil is moist and then keep the whole thing in a sealed, clear plastic bag. Keep it like this till you get the 2nd or 3rd leaf out. Then slowly open the bad and introduce it to the ambient environment. Still go slow on the water till at least another 2 wks. Then you can foliar feed and feed fert mildly after about 6 wks from germn. Check out the older threads, lots of info there.
Cheers! :ha:
