Hi,
I work on banana tissue culture about six years ago for several years. At that time we used shoot tips as explant for propagation. I would like to know if there is new development in recent years. Thanks.

Hi Siu! Glad to have another member involved in micropropagation. I do it as a hobby, but only with banana plants so far.
In addition, there are some methods out there generating callus tissue and also photoautotrophic micropropagation as a means of producing more plantlets. Also, some success has been achieved through culturing young flower buds. (I believe the male bud is preferred) I have not tried either method, but I may try micropropagation from young buds sometime. I don't think that I can afford the more costly equipment for callus generation. Here is a link to one of the posts with information about it: http://www.bananas.org/f260/photoautotrophic-micropropagation-6474.html#post56956
