View Full Version : California Hardy
I just got a California Hardy for minimum bid($25) on ebay. The seller was from Lodi California. Any of you know a reason why no one else bid? Should I be really happy or was there something I didn't know. Sorry to be a pessimist but to quote Joe Piscopo "I'm from Jersey".

Chong just won his a week or so ago, Harvey has one and I had one previously. I didn't see the auction or I might have bid on it, too. Be glad you got it cheap! I think I paid quite a bit more for mine.

Who was the seller? Sounds legit though. And 25 dollars seems like a good deal. How big was it?

The seller is Shawn I believe. He is a member here as well. Harvey knows him well, and his brother (?) Jeff. Both good guys. You won't be disappointed.

I was going to bid again, but at the last minute, I decided that I'd give others a chance. At first, I just wanted to try to get a better price than what I paid. Congratulations, Bob!
Thanks all. The seller was Shawn. Gardening where I am ,this seems an especially desirable plant to have in an attempt to get fruit . I assumed there would be a lot of bidders. I feel better.........Thanks

I saw it, was watching it and after the last one had so many bids I was wondering what was wrong with this one to have only 1 bid. Well, congradulations!

Congrats on the good buy Bob, I've been so busy looking for youth baseball bats that I haven't even considered looking at plants, youth baseball bats, for composite bats run upwards of $500.00, in the current economy and a boy that doesn't listen (at times) very well, don't want to spend that kind of cash. But I found what I was looking for and bought it, now I can get back in the game of the Elusive nanner deals on e-bay. You'll be very pleased with your California Hardy as both Shawn and Jeff are reputible and honest.

Bill at least if he isn't listening you've got the bat handy

Thanks Bob, Thats what I told "HIM." He just kinda looked at me all puzzled when I said I was really good at multitasking with same tool, kinda like Vicegrips, you grip and loosen, grab lightly, drive a nail, pull that nail and open a beer at the same time, again with the puzzeld look so I told him. "A baseball bat can be used to hit a ball or a butt, both start with B and have four letters with one of them being a vowel." He's an honor roll student allways gets straight A's so he understod that, go figure a ten year old!!!!:woohoonaner: and I didn't pay $500.00, got for under a hundred, not exact same bat but one he really likes and swings like a champ. Now maybe I can afford a few replacement plants for the ones I lost this winter, like I've said in other posts, it's been a very long winter!!:bananas_b

Bob, no reason for others not to bid on the pup you bought congrats. I don't really know Shawn that well and don't remember if he joined here or not, but his brother-in-law Jeff Earl is a member here and I know him better. Last year I posted when some plants were for sale on eBay but I got the feeling that some folks may have thought I was promoting these sellers and I just got uncomfortable with that. I was going to send Chong one of these if one of my extras was available, but it died late last year so I did send him a PM when I saw the first of these available a couple of weeks ago. Shawn lives about 25 miles from me but I've only been to his place once last summer when I got five of these. Two were given away by me to a charity auction where they sold for $165 (total) and one died and one is slow at recovering this year and will got to Scot when she's ready for travel. I've got one that is doing well and it should give me pups this year and, hopefully, fruit next year (or maybe this year).
Shawn also sells some on Craigslist, but I think he was getting more money for them there last year so he might sell very many on eBay if he doesn't get higher prices, though that's just speculation on my part.
Good growing,
Harvey
