Hi everyone,
I am new to Banana's and tropical plants in gerneral and hope to learn as much as i can. The weather here is not great at the moment and is wet and cold with the chance of frost at night so my plants are still inside itching for the sun to shine.Mabye in 3 weeks they can go in the garden.

Can anyone give me a good fertiliser for Musa and Bananas that i can get in the UK?

cheers for now.

Hi,
Wecome, from the not so far UK county of Kent.
Personally, I have always used Chicken manure pellets (any garden center/tesco's)- not sure if its the "official" fertiliser but my Basjoo's don't complain and I'm happy as they grow healthy.

Regards
Phil

For fruiting bananas you want something that has 1.5 times as much potash (K) as it does nitrogen (N), with negligible phosphorus (P). Example N-P-K formulas are 8-2-12 and 20-5-30.

Ornamental bananas will be very happy with a formula for citrus, palms, etc. The ratios are 2/3 potash for each part nitrogen and again, negligible phosphorus. Example N-P-K formulas are 9-3-6 and 28-8-18.
