Yo Mitchel...Hahaha..:ha:
Are you aware that the Thai's are truly engrossed by their many folklores on ghosts due to their historical culture. In the early days, there were only villages which later became urban settlement. It was a time of disease, warfare and darkness at night.

The Ad is a light hearted message telling the folks not to be afraid of the various spirits with their lighting system as many Thai's are afraid of the dark due to their belief in their folklores.

In the past no one goes out once the sun comes down.

The first ghostly character in the Ad is perhaps the most feared by the Thai's. I forgot the entire story but come nightfall, the woman's head will detach itself and go out to hunt for food. It feeds on carrion and when it's done it will clean itself on any laundry hanging out there. Then the owner of that soiled garment will fall sick. Many folks, especially the rural ones do not put their laundry out at night even in this modern time. On top of that in the old days the people will put up obstacles such as fences made of thorns as a warning to the ghost to keep it away. They hope the ghost will not come near their place as that it will be afraid that the thorns might snare its entrails. This belief is carried on till today with the planting of thorny plants around the house's compound.

Man, they have so many tales and some of them are really scary. Maybe you guys don't feel it but I grew up in a similar culture and when we were kids the parents will use these stories to scare us and it kept us from mischief. Thus many, many Asian people are afraid of the dark. Our stories makes the Bogieman look like the Candyman. :ha:

I can dig up a couple of stories if you guys want. :waving:

Yeah rite...forgot about you and Bob, the 2 big fans of Asian folklores. Before I begin, let me tell you that I was very afraid of the dark when I was a kid. I grew out of it though I still have a great respect of the various spirits around us. Yes, some of you may laugh at what I have just said, but if you have seen things happen around you, especially within your very own family, you have to believe it.

Ok, no sense banging up Mitchel's Thread. I am starting a new one. Go lookie! http://www.bananas.org/f9/togs-folklores-7554.html
