On the internet, I have seen two different forms of Musa 'Orinoco' fruit. One is curved and the other is pointed. So, which is the correct shape?

Obtain it from a reputable source.

The one on the right is classic Orinoco fruit. The one on the left appears to be immature fruit. Anyone growing it could tell you if they will morph as they mature. I have not fruited any as yet.

As Scot points out, they are at different maturity levels, that one on the left being rather newly formed and the one on the right being fully mature (even ripening on the plant).

Thanks! So the fruit changes its appearance as it gets closer to ripening. Very interesting! Is this common with bananas?

All I can tell about those are that the one on the left is a Dwarf Orinoco, and the one on the right is a Tall Orinoco. Those are pictures from pertinent descriptions of each plant in the Agristarts gallery. In both cases, Agristarts describes them as "having little curvature" in the fruit.
The way to tell which is which, before they bloom, is by how fast they grow. The Tall Orinoco will grow twice as fast as the Dwarf. I have been sold a "Dwarf Lady Finger" by a Seller that also has Tall Orinoco for sale. In one shipment, he sent me 2 alleged DLF, but one stayed small and the other one grew really fast. Then this winter, the tall one stayed green, while the other turned black. This would support my suspicion that he sent me one Tall Orinoco and one DLF, instead of 2 DLF.

I have been growing tall orinocos for a couple of years. I have about 14 clumps, and most of them fruited last summer. It has been my experience that the fruit looks like the pic on the left at first. As it matures it begins to look more like the pic on the right. The second pic above shows mine after about one month.

Bama Banana, those Orinocos look great! Nice and tall and very healthy. The fruit looks really yummy too. I hope my Orinocos can fruit one day...still waiting, but still trying! Thanks for posting pics!

Just curious. On my puter, the pictures are one over the other; top and bottom, not left and right.

John, it has to do with your monitor resolution. On your screen, the pic on the top should be the curved fruit, and the pic on the bottom is probably the pointy fruit.

Austin - mine all look like the one on the left, whether they are tall or dwarf orinoco - never pointy like the other picture. They do round out to some degree as they mature, but never look like the right hand picture. Sorry I can't help you with the other identification.
