Anybody else besides me tempted to get a banana knife?

I've seen one on eBay before and just checked and see some for $9.15 shipped, but don't know that they are of great quality. I'd rather not get my pocket knife all full of sap anyways. Thoughts?

The curved banana blade knife is nice but ease of carry is important. I use several folding knives, and one dedicated grafting knife that has grafted 1/3 of a 40 acre mango grove, an parts of two other groves.
Portability is very important.

I don't know if I'm a bigger sucker for plants or new tools. I've never even had a banana flower never mind fruit. You can bet in a few weeks I'll be the proud owner of a banana knife though. ........ I'll find some use to justify it .

I just can't imagine those ducks in the picture. It triggered some nice memories.
When I was a boy, I used to take care of them- feed them and harvest their eggs and watched their eggs hatched after duckmom patiently sat on her eggs for so long without eating.

I don't remember ducks, but when I was on Kaua'i there were chickens roaming about everywhere. Everywhere I went I heard roosters crowing. I have some pics of a mother hen with some chicks near one of the beaches. Yes, before you ask, Tog, chicken chicks, not girl chicks!

I remember seeing a few chickens running around Ala Moana Park, in Honolulu, also. But the place that really has chickens (and cats) is Key West, FL. As for the chickens; a few years ago, it was estimated that there were 2,000 in the town. They actually hired a guy to be a chicken catcher. He was to be allowed to catch up to 1,000, and he would be paid $20.00 for each one he caught. They were then to be taken to a farm, on mainland Florida. He set traps. I think he caught about 20, and then quit. He said that the chickens had figured a way to get the bait food, without getting caught, and some people (not everyone wanted the chickens gone) were springing the traps.
Then there are the cats. They are all over, also. One example is the house where Ernest Hemingway lived, which is now a museum. They try to keep everything like it was when he lived there, including the number of cats, which was 69. For some time, people could sign up to get the extra kittens, many of whom had six toes. The practice was discontinued when the waiting list got to 1,000 people. Now most of the Hemingway cats are fixed, and just enough are allowed to breed to maintain the number. However, there are plenty more, all over the rest of the town.

I don't really see the need for a banana knife being portable. If lucky, most of us will cut from 1 to 6 bunches a year. AT most, I might hang my banana knife from my pickup mirror just to get people to ask what it's for!

One more time:
When we were in Maui last year we were in that all zigzag road at the mountain coastal coast, we found a clearing and there is one wild rooster and about 4 hens trying to look for some food on the grass. There were many wild bananas also growing all over and mangoes and guavas. It's wild scene!

Banana knife came yesterday. As expected quality is P.O.S. but it cut the remaining brown off my basjoo corm nicely.



Who knows maybe someday I'll get a bunch to try it on!
