View Full Version : What is this 3ft Druiting Dwraf? Anyone?

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a plant at one of the nurseries here and the people there didn't know what it is. All they can tell me is that the fruits are very sweet and it fruits at 3ft high. The plant has a nice robust orange p-stem. Its leaves are big and roundish and very dark green. I checked against the M'sian cultivars and can't find a match. Could it be something from your side? Anyone? Mucho gracias...:ha:

This is the 3ft SgB (my code for this no ID plt) which I bought at a nursery for about $10.

One of the Sucriers, maybe? Leafwise it looks a lot like the SD Oritos that grow here, but the finger shape is wrong.

Lovely plant, anyhoo.

Does the SD Orito have an orange p-stem and fruit at 3ft?

Thanks. Orange stem? Does it fruit at 3ft? The DC here aka Pisang Serendah fruits at about 5ft but have whitish green p-stem.

Super Dwarf Cavendish (aka SDC). They fruit from 2ft to about 4ft, often around 3ft.

No idea but the orange P-stem and the leaves look especially wide kind of like a raja puri(just got a pup). Fruiting at that height and with its good looks ,it has a lot of potential. Hope someone figures this mystery out.

Gabe and I must have been typing at the same time:mystery solved.

Thanks, Patty, I quit growing SDC since my first one died, but I guess I am putting it back on my wanted list! I don't know how I ever missed this thread the first time around, but it's a classic for sure! It's bring laughter and tears to me all at the same time.

We need an emoticon of a banana with a cigar in it's mouth for things Tog would have said or done!

I joined too late to know him, but I've been reading the archives and you're right. It's not much, just a quick rough from Illustrator and probably not small enough.

It makes me want to cry again :(. How can a guy so many miles away, & with just knowing us for less than a year, have such an impact??!!
I love the emoticon! Wish it had smoke coming out LOL...OK, being too picky :)
Geeze, I still miss him.
Tog, I miss you...wish you were here.
Stefanie, how are you??? Wish you were here too!

I'm with you, Patty. I was just looking at memoriam thread and wishing I had been able to get over there and visit with him for some long talks, etc.

LilRaverBoi

Yeah, it's pretty amazing how he was able to touch so many of us so deeply in such a short period of time. And although it is such a huge loss that he's gone, he still lives on within all of us he touched here! Never let his memory fade and he'll always live on forever! I hope someday I'll be half the man Tog was!

Trying to get at that emoticon but when I right click on it, nothing happens!(?)

LilRaverBoi

Hmmm....I just right clicked it, then selected 'copy image location' and pasted that into the box when you click the 'photo' button (yellow with mountain/sun). That should show the image to post it wherever you wish.

Let's see if the full suite of BBCode is recognized...If so, I should be able to give you the display code directly:

(snips out code experiment)

*crosses fingers hoping it shows up*

Erm...It didn't, or rather, it did. It shows as an image instead of code, so I'm snipping it out.

http://www.neferset.com/images/SmokingBanana.png is the address.

I'm up to my neck with work for this evening, but I can see what I can do about smoke.

Thanks neferset. I think it's my puter acting up again. My right clicking isn't working anywhere today. I'll do the link.
Time for a new mouse :(

Awhh, nevermind the smoke. I don't remember seeing Tog with a lit cigar. He just had one in his mouth or fingers but I don't think they were lit.

There have been some technical difficulties with mt website. I just now realized that the memorial smoking banana is still down. I should get the file restored tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

It doesn't appear that you ever got this restored so I found a cached copy of it and now have your image hosted at www.chestnuts.us/images/SmokingBanana.png (hope you don't mind, but I wanted my signature line fixed)
