Put me on your list for seeds. And please do you have a secret for germination? I ordered seeds a few months back and put them in moist perlite at 80 degrees on 2/1/9. Still nothing.
All I get at that site is a screen that lets you sign up for a newsletter.

Mike, I find they send out roots just placed in water. I pop mine on top of a warm radiator to help them shoot.

Thanks, I just figured out I am trying to root them wrong. I was using older hardwood that is already brown and dryed out. I cut them back when my plant frooze.
I think I will rip out these sticks and toss em, I thought they would root from cutting like plumeria.

Seeds are easy.. .. You will need to soak them in warm water over night.. remove the corky outer layer and plant them in a well draining potting mix..slightly covered.. They do not need heat or light to germinate... Once they get up light is crucial and DO NOT OVER WATER!!!
Cuttings.. yep starting them in water is easy as well... Just keep the water clean a little H2O2 helps.. once you see little white nubbies on the cutting pot them up and DO NOT OVER WATER...LOL
Try this link..sorry about that...
World of Brugmansia • Index page (http://www.worldofbrugmansia.com/forum/)
It is going to have a shop that will open soon where you can buy seed and some beautiful plants.. AND NO I don't have any affiliation with the owners.. I just love Brugs..LOL
Michael send me your address...
Dalmation.. let them dry out very well before you water.. DO NOT OVER WATER...
Once the get established the are water hogs.. LOL

You gotta soak the seeds for at least 24 hrs. For cuttings, I pot them up after they have roots from being in water.
And, (I know this is new) DO NOT OVER WATER :)
Oooh Paul, I never even heard of a dark red brug!!! I think I would LOVE to have a cutting of that!

WOW!!! A red.. The only true red I have seen is a Brugmansia sanguinea. They like cooler conditions.. I keep my Brugs in morning sun and afternoon shade and water everyday.. They are heavy feeders..This is one of my Fav's B.Dola...

as soon as i know for sure that they are the red one all take some cuttings and get them to you all. how soon after they sprout dose it take for them to bloom? I'm thinking they will this year? iv had a few problems with this vendor seeds not being what they say they are (Georgia Vine). i ordered some of the gigantic Caster Bean planted them they don't look all that gigantic to me. as a mater of fact id say there just the ordinary run of the mill caster Bean. on the bight side they made it through the winter so will see if they get gigantic of not. to been honist i planted them vary late in the season. i think it was in September. on a slightly different note did any one see that nice if not a bit short article in DG on the differance between brugs and denturs. we have a really beautiful Denturs that grows wild here in the desert. it gets 2.5ft tall has white flowers 6 to 8" dusty blue green foliage? a bit spiny to the touch o and quite lethal if ingested. the native American Medicine men use it for religious ceremonys.
Ps i found the seed paket and its B. vulcanicola

oooo a Vulc. Sweet!!!! Good Luck with that!
Yep Datura and Brugmansia are saaaaay cousins...LOL Both are fairly easy to grow..and part of the Solanaceae family .. Datura flowers point up and are grown as annuals in most areas while Brug flowers hang down or are slightly pendent and most time brought in for the Winter in colder climates.... There are many varieties of both..and both are poisonous so don't consume them in way shape or form..LOL:ha::ha::ha:

This is the exact color one I want. A few people told me that this type dies very easy, and does not last but one year and then you have to sow from seed again each year.

Mike, they were prolly talking about Datura.
Brugs will only bloom after they form a Y on the plant. Flowers will come above the Y branches. You can read about this on the ABADS link.

Mark, now I hold you responsible for me being interested in you Var Brug. I like the leaves, forget the flower. Does it ever set sds and do the sds ever germinate Variegated? I insist you give me some sds if they come out looking like mummy!
Very nice photo with your Var Raja Puri(?). I give you a 10/10 for being a showoff! :ha::ha::ha: Just beautiful!

Tog,
Brugs are just like plumeria and are not true to color when reproduce via seed. That doesn't mean that you won't get the same color, it just means there is a chance that you will get a change in genetics. The only 100% way to get the exact same genetics is via cutting or TC.

Stopped by the nursery today and found this Brug about 6' tall for 25 bucks. Its spose to be red but the others there blooming were yellowish/green ending in kinda a brownish/red. I thought it had a id tag but is only fasteners to the support pole. I'll stop back by and try to id it.

Michael, they all come out yellow & greenish at first. They look like some kind of alien being born LOL. If that brug really is red I can give you 2-3 diff cuttings for one of yours! Hope you post a pic when it's open.
SJN, that was excellent! You have a lot of doubles in there! Was that peach one a Tiara? My Tiara blooms so slow I only get to see a couple & they never reach their true peach color. Beautiful flowers! Nice photography!

Yup, vulcs do best in humid, shady spots - I have only ever seen them in cloud forests. Sorry! But you can successfully grow them in full sun as long as you make sure that it gets watered at least twice a day (morning and night) - it will eventually adapt to the heat and sun that you provide it.
Don't be shocked by the amount of water it can drink - in its native environment it's in spongy, free-draining soil that's almost always damp.

Thanks. Those were taken in the fall when they really get going here.
Patty, There is one of Tiara in there but it looks more of a creamy white. You are probably thinking of Mon Amor de Muriel which gets peachy tones to dk pink tones for me depending on the weather. There is one photo of her looking very peach in there.
There are a couple double oranges in there too that go from white to orange and sometimes look peach inbetween changing color. They are New Orleans Lady and Naughty Nick.

My seed pod just matured over the weekend. I will send seeds to anyone who wants them for postage & padded mailing envelope.
They are Butterfly X Isabella. Both are large & very fragrant.
The seeds look unusual in a way that some are blonde colored & some are dark brown. I don't remember this from other seeds - they were all brown. I'll send both & we can see if there's a diff between them.

Hi Michael, how have you been? Long time no hear from you.
Even though I was not interested in the Brugs until I saw Mark's Variegated Snow Bank, I hardly saw Brugs here. Well, I can't miss them for their flowers. I took a cutting from my friend and just stuck it into a pot of soil and within a couple of days, it started to leaf. I guess they like it here though they are not popular.

I decided to 'stop and smell the brugmansias' this evening. It's so wild, the contrast in their fragrance. My white ones smell exactly like lemon thyme and my pinks smell like baby powder.
I saw a very large spotted moth on these and my passifolia(leaves, no blooms on those yet), but couldn't get a pic in the failing light. It wasn't the hummingbird type moth, this one had orange spots and 'normal' wingbeats.
