Hi. I am "Hammer" and i am so excited to be here. I live in the little town of Paragould AR. I have 2 kids and a lovely wife. I have 29 banana plants, and these are of 9 diffrent types. I really enjoy grow plants. Not only do I have bananas but I also have satsuma trees, lemon trees, and a pineapple plant. My 6 year old daughter, of course, thinks that they are all hers, and me being me, I let her think that. She loves to see how fast they grow. I would like to tell everyone hello and thanks for making me feel welcome.

Hello and Welcome, Hammer!
Nice to have kids interested in what makes you happy. Bananas is certainly a lot more impressive than any other plant. Especially to young minds just learning about things around them. So, your daughter is having a real good start. Imagine several years from now, bananas are normal plants to her, but to most of her new found friends, they will be awed by such "unusual" plants.

Welcome, Hammer.
My mom lived 16-17 miles from Paragould, in Lake City. She moved back to Louisiana a few months ago.
Do you bring your Satsumas indoors for the winter?

Yes I have a greenhouse where I keep all of my plants in the winter. I get alot of my plants from Louisiana. My wife is from Gonzales LA. My mother and father-in-laws still live there. I know exactly where Lake City is. I have been there many times. Thank you all for welcoming me to this site.

Welcome aboard hammer. It sounds like you have a great garden set up and also good that your daughter enjoys them. Post some pics when you get comfortable on the site.

I thank everyone for welcoming me so nicely!! I plan to get some pictures on by the end of the weekend. I am having to transfer everything over just got a new computer. I have pictures from late last summer and when I get them out into the yard I will take more and post them also. The ice storm that came through took its toll on my plants. I brought them in the house and kept them warm until the electric came on, but they are back in the greenhouse now and really growing.

Welcome Hammer,
I understand the weather tearing up stuff, last Sept. we recieved what was left of the hurricane winds. This is very unusual for Kentucky, when storms like that one pass through it's usually alot of rain and some mild wind (30-50 MPH). The winds we received were70MPH +. My bananas looked shredded once it was over. The power was out for 7days in some areas. Strange weather. Welcome to the group, hope to hear from you often.
