I'm from El Salvador and now live in Tampa, I would like to know where I can buy a cashew apple tree, or raw seeds to grow a tree. I've searched online but to no avail...... can anyone help?

Señor Eduardo, Bienvenidos!

Here are some sources for Cashew seeds and plants. I know of others but I could not personally recommend them.

Word of caution on the cashew seeds, if you do not know it already. They are highly toxic until processed with heat. Do not handle with bare hands.

Seeds:
Whatcom Seed Company - Catalog of Rare, Exotic, Unusual Garden Seeds (http://seedrack.com/01.html) Look under:
Anacardium occidentale
Cashew Nut Tree

10 Seeds ANACARDIUM occidentale "Cashew nut" (http://treefromseed.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=2709893)

CASHEW TREE (YELLOW)- ANACARDIUM OCCIDENTALE - 10 SEEDS - eBay (item 200310141683 end time Mar-15-09 21:34:47 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/CASHEW-TREE-(YELLOW)--ANACARDIUM-OCCIDENTALE---10-SEEDS_W0QQitemZ200310141683QQcmdZViewItem)

Plus a few more on eBay.

Beunos Dias Eduardo, y bienvenido!

Welcome to La Florida! There are a couple of good sources of cashew trees.

There are some in Sarasota, but "Tree House Nursery" on Pine Island about two hours south of Tampa is very good, and not so "pricey." They have a huge selection at good prices.

In Homestead, South of Miami, is Pine Island Nursery, but they charge Miami prices like they are the only people you can buy these plants from. They are not. But the quality is excellent and I have purchased trees from both.

Welcome to the organization!!

Hola Eduardo,

Pine Island Nursery, Tropical fruit trees, akee, all spice, ambarella, annona, avocado, cherry, bay leaf, black pepper, caimito, canistel, carambola, cashew, coconut, coffee, curry leaf, grumichama, guava, jaboticaba, jakfruit, longan, loquat, lychee (http://www.tropicalfruitnursery.com) is the Homestead nursery.

The Tree House Nursery on Pine Island, from Tampa I-75 to Hwy 78 (also known as Pine Island road) go west on Hwy 78 through Cape Coral, Matlacha, till it terminates in Stringfellow road, turn right (north) till you get to Harbor Drive, turn right again (east), go through the palm areas to Hubbard on right.
Bob the owner speaks spanish, as do many there. He has quality plants at market prices, much lower than Miami area.

Best wishes

Taylor

Hola Eduardo!

Do you have your cashew tree yet? When you are on Pine island, before you get to Harbor Drive you will see a sign of various fruits for sale, follow the signs and sometimes he has Cashew fruit for sale.

Felicidades.
