Hi people, the seeds germinating here are from the first bunch of fruits I collected from the wild late last year. When I had the fruits, they were still rock hard and I just left it under shade outside my house. After a week, they started to soften up so I decided to clean the seeds for germination.

In all they were in soak for 5 days. I then sowed them into a plastic box which you people call deli box. The media was a standard seed mix, moist, but not overly wet. It took approx 33 days from the date of sowing for the first seed to pop. Temp was high 90+F during the day and 80F during the night.

Ok, since I have done it, let's hear from the people who received the seeds from me! The interesting thing about M-v seeds is that once they are dried, they will float when you soak them. ALL of them!

I am looking forward to your posts!:ha:

You mean for the M-v? I put in around 50 sds. I did it for my own record as I already have some seedlings which I collected from the wild.

Well Ante, I am off again to the jungles to see my Orang Asli friend first thing tomorrow morning. He says he found 2 new species of dracaena for me. I am pretty excited to see what they are. Will update you if I see any interesting 'naner species...:02:

Thanks for the update, Tog! Mine have only been in the box for 6 days. They did all eventually sink to the bottom after a few days soaking. I have mine on a heat pad, 14 hours on and 10 off. Not sure of the exact temps, but it gets pretty warm in the boxes. I use a mix of 70% coco coir, 30% perlite. Hopefully by this time next month, I'll be able to tell you about the great quantities of Musa violascens I have germinating! Thanks,

Frank

This is an update after 3 months since the first sd sprouted. The whole box is crammed fulled of sdlgs and a rough count indicated 90+% success rate from the 50 sds. Since I have a couple of these plants in my collection, I will grow them a while and then release the sdlgs into areas where this species is found....well, unless one of them is a variegated one! :ha:

Any update from those that are growing these from Tog?
I sewed mine just the other day after a good soak for many days.
