Hi y'all,

My name is Chell....I live in Tyler, TX with my husband and two wonderfully rambunctious little boys. I enjoy any type of gardening...last year I converted to Organic methods and I've also been experimenting with hydroponics. I love tropical plants and this year I hope to have the best garden yet as I plan to finally build a greenhouse and I recently got a small pond/fountain to add to my tropical garden.

This site looks like my kinda place to be.....I'm glad I found it!:woohoonaner:

Hi,

Nice meeting all of you....thanks for the warm welcome!

I started my tropical garden last spring and planted EEars (plain, black magic, illustris, and upright varieties), white butterfly ginger and quite a few canna varieties..... I recently found Canna Stuttgart (been wanting this one for a while!) and will plant it near the pond. I would love to have a Great Gunnera - started seeds, but no sprouts yet (crossing fingers). I plan to put a few trellises at the back for passiflora & other vines. Probably have enough potted tropicals still overwintering indoors (orn. banana, philodendrons, plumerias, dwarf orange...) to fill in any remaining spaces. Already had alot of the plants (& seeds) to start the gardens, but didn't have anything planted/placed in an organized fashion. This winter I actually took time to 'design' my gardens....I just hope it all looks as good in reality as it does on paper!

Also aiming for shade, butterfly/hummingbird, and cactus gardens, as well as growing our own seed for birds/wildlife.....and hope to grow many tropical/exotic fruit varieties. But of course, it seems we gardeners always hope to accomplish more than we have actual time for, LOL!

I'd love to hear about the gardens/plants y'all are growing!!!! And photos would be awesome!!!

Happy Trails...
Chell

Chell, it's a shame you don't have any ideas for your yard!
