Southern Grower -

After seeing your Grand Nain pic I believe I have some in the ground that were here when I bought the house. They died back to the main corm last winter, but this year are 8 feet+ already. Will Nain survive in the ground in Zone 8?

Question??????

I moved some banana pups when we moved last spring and I got a Gran Nain and a Raja Puri mixed up. Can you tell them apart? I do know that one of them has grown a lot more that the other and has alraady put out 3 pups and it is only about 4 ft tall. The other just plugs along with no pups.

Thanks - Terry

honestly don't think so.. if your meaning stem and all..

corm ? it probally depends on the winter weather.. remember these are the sub-cul of cavendish and these in my opinon are far from cold hardy.

i still have 2 mother corms and wanted to fruit one but second year pups as you stated hit 8' stem height, too tall for gh..

so i have a dwarf cavendish to add instead..

Old thread, but you guys that got these from SG - have yours bloomed yet?

I had a surprise I will share very shortly with everyone but wanted to ask this question first.

Mine rotted, grew back and then died completely before I could plant it. I think it was over watered and not kept warm enough.

Terry

My Raja has green stem, no red in leaves and a red leaf rim like SG said. Hope this info helps. Can you pinpoint which mat we dug it out of?

I wonder if yours would have done the same. I guess the next bloom(s) will be very telling. Pretty cool though. And here I thought I would be waiting a couple years for one of my baby tc'd Double Mahoi to finally do the same freak show...
This plant never really did impress me till now, it inched along ever so slowly, took what seemed like forever to finally bloom and never really was such a "good looking" plant, you know... but this is pretty cool. :aliennaner::aliennaner:
