My lavender Ornata is blooming and has produced a stalk of bananas. Are they edible? Will it freeze tonight when temperature drops into the mid-twenties.....it is surrounded by a lot of shade.

No they are not edible, and at that temps they would freeze and the plants may likely be killed to the ground.

Congrats on the bloom. You might try placing some hay bales around the base and covering with a heavy blanket for a few degrees protection, worth a try I'd say. Here in the frozen tundra it's standard procedure.

Hey Robert congrats! At least you are aware of it blooming. When my first ever 'naner bloom came about I thought my plant had gone weird with the smaller leaves coming out! How dumb of me :ha: Enjoy the bloom and remember to post pix.

Congrats on the Bloom! as Bob said, you could cover it at night to help protect it from freezing, :bananas_b
