Ok, so someone gave me a baby banana tree for a gift. And I brought it home and it has done fine til now. Its about 7 inches tall. It has sprouted 2 new leaves, and Ive pruned away the dead ones. I may have accidently hit it or bumped it because now the stalk seems broken, the leaves are wilting and the stem is turnin brown, until about 2 inches above the soil. Below that it is still green and hardy. Since it is a young tree what can I do to help save it!

Yikes, it may be difficult to save because it probably hasn't developed much of a corm. I would suggest letting it run its course. do not water it. If it can pull through, you will know in about 2 months. If it can, it will put out new leaves once these die off.
I had this happen to one plant and I set-aside the pot. Lo and behold, it put out 2 new pstems about 1 1/2 -2 months later.

If the stem is broken, cut it off just below the break. This will allow the new growth to produce leaves quicker, rather than forcing it to push through the dying tissue on its own.

There is a new leaf trying to pop out. Its still really green and seems strong. So hopefully it will be ok :( Ive grown to love my tree lol. Thank you for the advice (this is my first plant inside) so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Its so hard to find good advice, i have to search for days.
