I believe opinion is divided. It could be anything from 2 days to up to 2 weeks (favoured, and with great success, by mr bungalow) depending on how dry they are. Use boiled water (allowed to cool to room temperature), as for the temperature, I've always put the soaking seeds in my heated propagator and then they are kept at their germinating temperature. Hope this answers your question.

really after growing allot of seed the Key is how fresh they are for the most part the fresher the more likely you are to get some to sprout and with in a particular Banana fruit the seeds are set up to germinate sequentially so that not all will go right away so that germination is staged over a long period of time so if a seed is fresh you really don't need to soak them at all but if they have been dried out theres a set of processes that set up that put the seed in to dormancy that is what we all are trying to figure out also lots of Musa seeds are not viable as they don't have an embryo or they are contaminated with bacterias and fungi i soak my sees in 86c for a cupal of days thats more then enghf for them to get moist inside there not as water tight as they look

The thing about buying sds is that we do not know how viable they are - ie - how they were harvested. I only harvest wild 'naner sds here from plts with naturally ripen fruits. These prove to the be best for germination. You see my point?
I usually soak my sds for at least 3-5 days depending on their condition. In your case, it should be in luke warm water like jmoore putting the soak in the heated propagator. Then its your luck on how viable the sds are.
All the best:0517:

Currently I don't have any and they are tropical species which will be a pain to germinate in your place. I suggest you try rarepalmseeds.com. They are in Germany and they have a very good selection of 'naner seeds and other stuff. I buy regularly from them monthly for my business and they provide very good service and pricing.:drum:
