Happy new year!!!
I gotta take a few minutes to tell you guys about how much I appreciate the last year and how much I'm looking forward to 2009!
This has been one crazy, wonderful year for me at the org. I'm amazed by all of our different experiences and the way that we learn from each other.
For instance, I never imagined aquaponics until I saw Coockiecow's set-up....now I'm working on a commercial application with basil and salad greens. I never knew that Gran Nain would produce two bunches until one of Jarred's did and I researched it. I've never seen a community offer up their homes to those in need like I saw during the hurricanes this year. Never saw a community to be so concerned when one of their own was down such as with our Sam (any word from her?).
The list could go on for many pages!
Scot's pushing the TC workshop( I have an area put together for this, all the materials I need, and would probably have neglected it for a while more if it weren't for reading the post's and chat's with Scot and Gabe).
The birth of the orgs own magazine (soo exited).
Richards information on ferts.
Harveys chestnuts.
Visiting with RMPLMNZ in Tampa
seeing all of your amazing pics.
witnessing the birth of several new forums.
seeing others projects come together...Nates
beds,Bennie's patio....
Seeing Millermack's site and really considering okra in my beds.
Making crazy,nice trades.
selling some corms for my "soil-fund".
Learning about plants that I never knew existed.
Getting awesome recipes .
I tell you, I could list things all night, this has been a busy year with many memorable events ( and I would type for a while more but I can't keep my eyes open after the NYE festivities).
I'm just so glad to know all of you, so blessed to be able to count on your input and knowledge, and so thrilled to have been your friend last year. I know that 2009 will be even better !
God bless you all and keep you safe.

Awesome post Pete! Thanks!
No word from Sam, I wrote her as recently as a couple of days ago and still no word back yet. Hope she's alright...
Regarding your seeing MillerMackenzie's site and being inspired, I've seen his operation in person and let me tell you I have never seen soil so rich and a setup as professional as his. It's really an impressive way to garden with the breathable "jackpots" he uses. We pick the veggies and rinse them off and eat them, they are so delicious and taste so different than what you buy in a big commercial chain store. And he's one of the smartest nurserymen that I know. I'm happy that I met him and its all because of the Org...
And regarding that double Grand Nain, that was pretty cool, wasn't it!
Great list of good times, thanks for posting!
HNY!!

Happy New Year and thanks to everyone for invaluable information that showed me that I could grow plants I didn't know I could! It was a wonderful summer watching the bananas grow taller and taller until they were taller than my house. I have learned so much and met such wonderful people. And that just goes on and on.
I've gone from two small lemon trees in a bath tub next to a south facing window each year to a cleared out spare bedroom wintering bananas, cannas, the lemons, pineapple, ginger, bamboo and misc. garden veges that I couldn't bare to let the frost get to this year since I didn't have to let the growing stop!
A special thanks to Mikevan for introducing us to aquaponics which took on a life of it's own at our house. Pete good luck with marketing a set up for lettuce/basil! My husband wanted to do that be we had to make a list of priorities. :ha: One of my D. Orinoco pups will go into an aquaponics pot this spring as an experiment. I'm looking forward to that.
Holidays are over and now I can pay more attention to playing with the plants and see what I've been missing on the org!

I hope everyone has a year filled with health, happiness and abundant gardens. I thank Jarred for this and the fish forums which have brought me so much info and joy this past year. Thanks to all here, who are such a great "bunch". G-d bless.
