I got a seven foot Cinnamon Tree (Canela) from Lowe's just before Christmas. Originally priced at $59.99, I got it for $14.99. I doubt, though, if it will make my whole yard smell any more (or nicer) than my Joy Perfume Trees. And the Joy Perfume Trees are only 3-4 feet tall. Check out a sampler of the Joy Perfume at Nordstrom's. That's what the blooms of my JPT smells like. They are the source of the fragrance of Joy Perfume. At night, they are heavenly.

You really don't need to have a greenhouse for the Joy Perfume tree. They are native to the highlands of China, so they can take a certain amount of cold. I only bring them inside when I anticipate really freezing weather. And since they like to be rootbound (just be careful not to let them dry out), you can plant them in a 3 or 5 gallon pot, and they can be very bushy and prolific bloomer. I grow my older ones in 10 and 15 gallon pots, some in 3 gallons, but I still have a few in 3/4 gal. pots. Right now, almost all of my JPTs are still blooming (another reason for bringing them inside). But they can be just as happy inside, next to a very bright window, although they may not be as bushy. Warmth and humidity makes the fragrance more intense. BTW, my avatar is a photo of a bloom from one of my very first Joy Perfume Trees. |
