Well it did get down in the 30's last week during the night and there was frost on my windsheild so I hope my bananas are okay. They actually look a little green/brown. I hope I didn't do the wrong thing by not bringing them in. It has been over 4 months almost 5 now and I just don't think those temps last week were good. They are so full and plump. I think I will cut the top hand off and just see how it does.

I'm not cutting the first bunch off because it's HUGE, it might be the biggest hand of all of them. I need to either commit to just leaving it for one more month and braving the weather or just hack the whole thing off.

Can anyone tell me if the frost has ruined them or will ruin them? We are not expecting lows like that at night again for the next 10 days at least. Any damage that is done is already done I just don't know how much cold they can handle.

Oh they are Mysore's by the way.

My observations of Mysore to date is that they are cold-sensitive. They are great in the heat and can handle drier conditions, but with only one frost, they might be ok. If yours fruited, then they might have been up high enough not to get the hard frost. If the next day was sunny, you should be ok. After all, you are in zone 10.
If they were damaged by the frost, what do you have to lose by leaving them out? I wouldn't hack them down just yet.

Jen, I still have 8 bunches hanging in West Los Angeles. The other morning I had a full layer of ice on my windshield but none of the banana leaves or fruit are showing any signs of freezing. The last time we had frost that killed all the leaves it left little freckles on the banana skins. The flavor and texture was affected a little bit on those fruits.

we have now 4 ice days in a row (temperature not above 0c) so I dug out my basjoo, it looks very poor but the p-stem will survive mostly i guess.

I guess your right the damage is done. They do have little freckles on the banans skin. :( I will just wait another month and hope for warmer weather.
