Hello, my dear Banana friends.

OK, first things first. I'd better explain why I created this new thread.
:nanadrink:

I'm from Europe (Central Europe to be perfectly precise) and I've been growing bananas for over 4 years now. I got Dwarf Cavendish a looong time ago and already have had some fruit. That's when it got my attention and I started to study the "seedless banana plants" realizing, that there's no known way of getting my hands on triplods like 'Valery'...

:woohoonaner:

So I decided to contact you, because I know there are also some of you who originate or often travel to Europe. Could you please mail me (csokat[at]gmail[dot]com) or pm me - any information you can provide someone from Europe on places, where I could buy TRIPLOID BANANA PLANTS that can usually be found on any large Plantation all over the world.

And I don't only mean Cavendish, but also other species, I like experimenting, but the most important for me is that they are producing seedless fruit that is edible. Just like those we can find in markets, groceries...

To specify -> Central Europe - Slovakia.

Thanks for your help and I hope someone will be able to give me ultimate advice.:ha:

Jack, you will find several people in Europe with banana plants that are seedless edibles. If you also make a post in the New Member Introductions section, I am certain several of your neighbors in Europe will make themselves known to you and perhaps offer some of their pups to you this spring, either by trade or for sale.
Best of luck to you!
Welcome to bananas.org!

Welcome to our group!

'Dwarf Cavendish' is an edible triploid, and 'Valery' is basically just a larger version (it is a type of Cavendish too). There is a common misconception that triploid=seedless, this is not true. There are many edible, seedless diploids and tetraploids as well. Really you just need to be looking for any edible varieties, not just limiting yourself to triploids.

Also may I suggest that you use the member map to locate people nearby that may be of help:

Halfway obvious, but often overlooked!

Actually, only one person out of 100 Europeans replied positively or at all. :)

One out of a hundred - I thought our members were more friendly than that - perhaps it was Christmas/New Year and got lost in the festivities! Good luck with your quest - there must be someone reasonably near to you!

No, I don't think it was because of the Christmas :( . And that's why I'm so sad. I hoped for better understanding.

But there must be someone, there surely is. So if anyone reads this thread (apart from the kind and great person that offered me the precious banana tree... (no names) and I'm deeply grateful for that), is from Europe, please, do make a call (or mail). I'm not giving 30 Euro (because I can't give that much for a plant :( ) to any company (and there's quite a ot of them). Fellas, save me, please.

Whatever edible banana... seedless... tasty... sweet...
You know where I am, feel free to let me know anytime. It's never late for me ;)

And thanks for cheering, pallie :birthdaynana:
I do appreciate it.
