Happy Holidays to everyone!

I don't go down from the mountains often so I have infrequent chance to use the computer.
My lacatan bananas have been suffering from a wilting disease. Only a few last year but now almost all the plants that flower start to have brown discoloration of its leaves, starting with the lower mature ones. when thefruits have come out almost all the leaves are brown and the petioles are yellow and wet then they turn brown and dry. The whole plant dies while the fruit is still immature. Is this Sigatoka.
Thanks for your help.

I'm not qualified to answer but a couple of things would help.

1) Where are you located?
2) Do you have any photos to show the problem?

There are some true experts here but they will need the same information.

Good luck!

It sounds more like nutrient deficiency rather than a disease. The nutrients/energy will move towards the flower in order to reproduce.

Have you fertilized them recently? Since it has started in the past few years, your soil may is likely less fertile.

There are several diseases that can cause wilt. Fusarium wilt is the likely candidate, where did you get the plants? Close-up photos will be very helpful. I am not a plant pathologist, nor am I an alarmist, but it sure sounds like something is spreading through your plantings and should be investigated ASAP!
What is your location? Have you shipped plant material to anyone else? If so, where?
This is a potentially serious issue and demands urgent attention to keep it in check, if in fact it is a disease. By your mention of the mountains, I presume that you are not in the USA. Giving us a location may help identify pathogens in your area, but also may put some of members minds at ease.
Thanks for posting this.
