Hi there! I need your help :-( I am zone 5b. Just overwintering my bananas (musa, ensete, about 15 pieces) in a room with temepartures around 16°C. I dig them up and putted in a containers. They have not a lot of light (under the western window, daylight about 8 hours per day here in Czech Republic) and almost no watter (wattering irregulary once per 2 weeks a small cup of water). They started to die. Last year same conditions and everythink was OK.

I found big white floccuses like snowlakes on some died parts of bananas, and on died leaves and on pseudostem. The soil is almost completely dry. Does anyone knows, what can be the problem?

I will try to make some pictures later today.

Thanks for any answer.

Yes, it could be whiteflies or even mealy bugs.

Well thank you all for your answers. Unfortunately these are no whiteflies normealy bugs, I know both of them very well. Both found on my plants previously. These dont looks like an animals, but better like some type of fungus or mould. But only on dry places of died banana leaves.

My camera is in my friends office, I will probably post some pictures of this and all plants tomorrow.

I plant bananas here and outside for 3 years. I tried overwintering outisde (zone 5b!) with some partial succes and this looks like my last winter with bananas, if this will continue, they will die in one month :-(

Pics might help a lot. I suspect a fungus, but until I see it, I couldn't give you any direction on it.

Hello, I think that my new banana plant has white flies, and also some sort of green bug inside the leaves.
I did not use potting soil, I used top soil. I water it every other day with 8 oz of plain water, we live in Mesa, AZ. I really need a lot of advice on this plant. It does not look good at all. The new leaves are green, then develop small holes and then turn brown and die.

Thank you for what ever help you can give me.
