Can anyone advise if banana tress that bore fruit one year will bear fruit the following year?
I have be told that they don't.....I am getting ready to separate some trees and I am wondering if I should mark the ones that bore fruit this year or not...do not want to give up the ones that did if the can reproduce.

They only fruit once per plant.

Once the banana has produced it is usually cut down and new corms will emerge around the base. Some people leave 2/3rds of the main truck standing so the nutrients with go back into the base and help with the new emerging plants.
I just cut them off with a sharp knife close to the base.

The whole pseudostem that produced fruit will just turn brown and eventually become mush down to the base. Just whack them down and divide the pups accordingly. Try to stagger the height of the pups, leave the tallest perhaps and alternate height of the rest that you remove.
