Whilst I'm waiting for my helen's hybrid, sikkimensis, red tiger & daj giant, itinerans and yunnanensis to come up - I've had a superbum pop its head up after only 2 weeks! I feel a :woohoonaner: coming on.

Congrats jmoore! I am also waiting like crazy for my sikkim Red Tiger(3 mths already), sikkimensis and yunnanensis too....sigh.... Ain't gonna lose hope...
You are sure gonna enjoy your E superbum, once they take off, they grow like crazy. I have 3 which are 8 mths old and they give me 1 new leaf a day in my weather here with lots of water and fert. Have fun!

Congrats James, considering everything written about banana seeds being tough to get to germinate, every new one is worth a:woohoonaner:

Thanks Bob, I agree heartily. Carrying on the theme, I've got 2 more superbum appearing!

Just to throw another spanner in the works, I planted these in a non sterile, peat free compost and gave constant soil temperature of about 30 degrees (+/- 3 degrees). 3 out 5 is pretty good I think.

Congrats... do you have any pictures of these. I have what I think are superbum coming up, but sadly have lost track of what I have growing where..

Whoever gave the species name for this plant needs to be reeducated....

Ensete superbum......hmm, where do I make the break for pronunciation...

I prefer Ensete super bum......rather than superb um.

Maybe if an 'I' was inserted......Ensete superbium sounds much better

Now if I could get rid of the super bum in my garden.. (my son)....

Isn't it pronounced su-per'-bum?

I think it's a similar thing to the optical illusions, you either see two faces or you see a vase. It's either super bum or superb um. I'm in the super bum camp myself, but then that's my sense of humour.

I have taken a couple of photos, but to be honest they look like glaucum and ventricosum and any other ensete I've seen young. In fact they look very similar to some palm seeds I have growing when they are very young.

Maybe the emphasis should be on the first syllable....

Sooooper bum! and away!

Now let's congratulate the germinator and end this silliness...it has gone farther that it should...
