Seems to me as if my palm tree is doing fairly well inside here in newfoundland, even though its cold as hell outside, but thats alright. BUT on the contrary my palm has recent had brown tips, which seems to me to be result of water neglect, and since these wonderful palm need LOTS of water, also LOTS of Food and Light. Anyways the main question is how often would i have to fertilize this through the winter months? once a month with some-what large doses of espom salts?? i used espom salts back in september, so...? anyways i kno alot about plants so be aware that im a greenthumb'ed individual at a ripe young age of sixteen. :) *****btw hello taylor i remember you, my old username here was "Musa_cavendish".*****

The brown tips can be a result of many things. Epsom salts shouldn't be used alone or in large amounts. It only contains magnesium and sulphur and will cause a build up of salt in the soil (and will hold better in soil than other nutrients such as potassium).
I'd use a complete slow release fertilizer such as osmocote plus as a fertilzer - should be fine.

I am ssuming that your majesty palm is inside or protected (heavily) for the winter.
Ravenea rivularis is problematic in Zone 9 during the winter and impossible in cooler climes.....
You are right about the water and feeding issues, but I am confused if you have this in the ground in a Zone 4 planting......
please expand, pictures, heaters?

this plant obviously isn't outside in the ground.... Its in a pretty buig pot, with all the pro mix soil it needs and nice amount of sunlight through the southern window in my room, daily mistings, and monthly feeding of a mix of Epsom Salts and a bit of 20-20-20 fertilizer, i do this by showering the plant to wash out excess, and to also give plant plenty of water and humidity as well. i also have a humidifier running and a heater going nightly, but but not blowing directly onto the palm. i know majesty's have a huge tendency to get sickly and wither, but that doesn't bother me, i grow it and try my hardest, and so far i've had pretty good results! :D.

As far as fertilizer for palms go, I found a recipe online for homemade palm fertilizer since palm fertilizer isn't available in my area:
1 Can of Beer (10 oz)
1 Cup of Epsom Salts
1/2 Cup of Ammonia
2 Cups of Water
Mix all four ingredients and store in a container.
Add 1 fluid ounce of this mixture per gallon of water (use 2 cups of prepared water per foot of trunk) when watering your palm tree. Use once every 2 weeks.
====================================
My palms aren't doing back flips for me or anything, but they do seem happy.
