I have several AeAe plants that are planted outside in partial shade and are protected from the elements. My smallest plant appears to be splitting at its base. I have attached pictures. I do not see any bugs or pests. The other AeAe's and many other banana plants are all fine. This is only plant that is affected. The rest of this plant looks healthy. This plant is in the same soil, mulch, and watering as every other plant I have. Any ideas?

Looks like the new growth is stronger than the older leaves and the pseudotem will be increasing in diameter as a result. Nice looking plant.

I had something like this happen with a Monkey Fingers, then a strong wind split it apart and there were 2 or 3 pstems growing inside. Weird, but it grew out of it.

Thanks for all the fast replys and good news! This plant came from Hawaii and is the smallest of my AeAe. I guess I never noticed it on other plants. I will keep an eye on it.

ya, just looks like a growth spurt to me too. if the leaf is still growing, then it is not likely that there is anything bunched up inside there, but if the new leaf is not moving at all, then its possible that it died and new growth is trying to push thru.
