...tonight is the first frost in Wiltshire, fingers crossed the winter preparations are ok. A heavy mulch and a straw 'wrap'.

mind you. first frost should have been about a week ago.

How's everyone else doing?

In Kentucky the weather is frosty, however my basjoo's are still growing strong!!!

We will have a low of 55 F (~12.7 C) tonight... its cooling down considerably, but not too bad!

Hope it all works out for you Kev!

We will be getting down to the mid to upper fifties for lows this week. But, it has been in the 80's for highs, so there is sufficient heat in the ground to keep things growing.
I hope we don't see anything below 35-40 all winter.
Is this an El Nino year? I haven't paid much attention, but I was trying to see how it might affect our weather patterns here.
Anyone care to chime in on this? Theories, whatever....?

Oh, and the Chicago area (from where I moved this summer) just had snow this morning.

We're going to have our first freeze tonight too. Move everything in last week when frost threatened (and nothing happened), but I think our luck has run out. Yard won't look so nice tomorrow I suspect.

Expecting -2c or less for the next few nights in Burnham Bucks. Only got down to 1c last night but my old paraffin heater kept the well lagged greenhouse up at around 10c. It will be interesting to see what it achieves over the next few nights.

We got down in the low 40's last night. It was 46 when I left for work a little before 5 a.m. I'll check the exact low when I get home as I'm sure it still dropped some after I left. I put my heliconias and orchids in the garage. Everything else stayed out. This is by far the earliest we've had weather this cool in the 5 years I've been here.

We had our first frost Wednesday morning, at 29F (at the airport). I, however, am in a cold hole/frost pocket, and so I was lucky and got down to 24F! 26F this morning, but a warmup has started and it will be around 70F this weekend. Nice. We are right on schedule for a frost, but I like to make it at least to Halloween. Oh well! No more watering!

Luckily enough we've been frost and snow free here so far Kev,hope we stay that way for the forseeable future as I've still got to protect a few things outside.Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to wrap up this years sacrifices, lol

cold here! 5 c is the maximum and at night around 1 c.
it will warm up, 12 c as a maximum temperature next week and no damage to all the musas (still outside, except for the laterita, siamensis and milky way)

some of the 'sacrifices' took a real pasting. I think it's the damp sort of cold we get in the UK that's almost worse than real cold, cold.

forgot you were down there steve, I'm down there a fair bit now for work, maybe link up for a beer before xmas?

38F here now, going down to 29F, then up to 65F tomorrow! So far the basjoo, sikkim and lasiocarpus are fine, if a tad ragged from high winds.

Its been good here. highs in the mid 80s and lows are in the high 50. Its going to drop in the nexst week or so. By Dec. we will get nightime lows in the mis 30s but thats only for about 8 weeks. Then back up spring starts here around Feb 15.
