Hi I am interested in Storing a large Rojo banana but I am not sure how exactly or if this variety is suited for digging up out of the ground and storing. How do I go about doing this? I have several large bananas and have run out of room in the house to keep them growing all winter.

Would help if you post your location / zone in your profile and types of bananas!

I haven't really had any luck with the rojo/zebrinas in storage. Lost all I've stored so far. But we're in zone 5, so that's long storage time.

Through bare-root in basement, mine just BARELY made it! Z8a, Virginia.

Now, its flagging a bloom, at 4 foot or less. Huge clump from the almost dead corm in spring.

Nice, Taylor! I've been growing this one for about 7 years now and it has never bloomed. I even planted one out in my landscape that had been overwinterded in a greenhouse this past winter thinking it would bloom for sure, but it hasn't yet. We probably have about 4-6 weeks left before all hope is over for this year, though.
