Does anyone know of a good product to add to soil to retain moisture. Now that my plants are well rooted I think I can use a heavier soil. Iwould like to cut down on my water useage.

Peat and compost are the cheapest route ,along with plenty of mulch. The worms and soil organisms will appreciate this and the plants will benefit a great deal from it.
There are products that you can add to the soil which absorb and hold water but why not keep it simple and organic? As for me, I'm thinkin about crammin' snorkels in the ground around my plants now .
