I've been growing this Dwarf Cavendish since June 2008. Its very healthy but must admit I don't have much knowledge beyond what I've research about it. Its being grown in a pot. And I want to continue with its progress during the winter months. What suggestions can you provide me with growing this during the winter? Also there appears to be life sprouting up. I'm assuming its a pup. Does it matter if one lets this continue to grow. Or should it be removed from the mother plant? If I do decide to remove it. When should it be done?

Iv'e never overwintered a banana indoors, but as far as pups go, 1-2ft should be plenty. Go with a sword-leaved pup if you can wait (unlike me :ha:)

From my experience DC is very sensitive to cold.
I'd grow them indoors in Winter time. That's what I'll do mine.

I indicated in my last post that life was sprouting up. And assumed it could be pups. Could it be pups or what i am seeing are roots. In which case the plant may need to be repotted.
