It was probably the most horrific thing any of us have ever seen. I am really disappointed, disgusted actually at how the Republican party has tried to trademark 911 for political purposes though! RIP to all those who died or gave their lives trying save others on that day.

Very early that morning I had surgery -- which went fine, but when I woke up the world was a very different place.

This is probably not the place for a political discussion of any kind. Republican, Democrat, Independant, or otherwise. It can only end badly, due to the fact that everyones views are bound to be different. This place is for bananas not for politics.

Not true at all. This is the Tiki Hut where anything goes!

"All other posts go here. Banana jokes, travel stories, anything else you would like to chat about."

Carry on. :waving:

A week later I climbed the highest hill here about 30 mile away and could still see the smoke without binocs. I'm still mad.

Tiki Hut can get lively but it's how we get to know each other. Sometimes there's some cuts and scrapes but unless I'm wrong there aren't any scars and sometimes I think we end up liking someone we didn't think we would that has oposite views.... in spite of ourselves!:ha:

I know Mitchel and I have had very oposite views on things before and he's actually swayed me into thinking he's right about all things organic ... well mostly. Course he'll never sway me over to the Democrats!:waving:

I hope that one lesson from 9/11 is that judging someone -- politician or otherwise, by whether they are Republican or Democrat is the most divisive, self-damaging thing that occurs in the U.S.

I'll go along with that too!! (sorry Buddy but I'm not likely to change either) of course a lively debate on organic methods(which I'm all for) might get me riled up!!:goteam::bananas_b we can toast one to that I think.

I guess the world is simpler when you narrow it down to "us" and "them". :(

That statement makes me feel sad. Food for thought Richard.

Exactly why a third party is needed. Then it would be us and them and them! Til then we have our Banana party!

But seriously, this theme repeats with almost everything in life. Sports, wars, neighbors, corporations, politics, animal kingdom, gardening clubs, even family, etc etc. Let's not forget religion/faith, or human vs alien.

Alternatively, there is the realization that every group is a collection of individuals -- each with their own varied opinions.

The upside of political parties is the ability of candidates to pool resources and public appearances. An analogy of this is the Cannes Film Festival.

The downside of political parties is when they become machines of wealth and power for the national committee and key players. We've been on this road for quite awhile in the U.S. One of the first real abuses in this area was simplified voting: pull the handle or push the button and vote only for the party candidates and "platform".

When you reject the concept of "party platform", you remove the instruments of divisiveness and every candidate must now stand on their own merits instead of hiding behind the party "brand".
